NEW YORK — Ah, fall in New York! Broiling summer days have cooled, autumn leaves are bursting with color, and the new Broadway season is in full swing. Besides enjoying the last bits of the outdoors as nature turns from green to gold and auburn and all colors, people are looking for more indoor interests. Here are some special places to check out.

Who doesn’t love a carousel? Jane’s Carousel is a fully restored historic carousel located in Brooklyn Bridge Park, in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn (which stands for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass”). This was the first carousel to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Chocoholics will adore New York’s 14th annual Chocolate Show, the largest show of its kind in the United States. The Chocolate Show takes place November 10 through 13 at New York’s Metropolitan Pavilion. Yum!

Love Broadway? Then be sure to see the new Follies, a musical featuring the incredible compositions of Stephen Sondheim.

Harry Potter fans, take heart! More than 100 teams will descend on Randall’s Island in November to play the Quidditch World Cup. Teams will march into Icahn Stadium in costume on November 12 and 13.

Lastly, be sure to visit the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, made famous by Washington Irving’s story and Tim Burton’s film. You’ll not only find the final resting place of Irving but also famous New Yorkers such as Elizabeth Arden and Brook Astor. It is a side of New York you won’t want to miss.

So plan your outings ahead of time, savor the weather, and enjoy!
